Things to consider when setting up your home cinema

With so much great content now available to stream digitally, many people are investing a good deal of money in creating an ideal home cinema set up. There are several things to consider when creating a home cinema to make sure you get the best experience possible. These include:
  • Screen size
The size of your TV screen is one of the most fundamental parts of a home cinema. In most cases, bigger is better. The more screen size you have, the more authentic the cinema experience. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the larger you go, the more money you can expect to spend. Also, you need to have adequate space in the room, not just to fit the TV in but also so you can get far enough away from it to have the optimal viewing experience.
  • Wall mounting
TV Wall mounting has seen a huge surge in popularity thanks to the thinness of modern HD TVs. Not every property is suited to wall mounting but if you’re able to do it, it not only looks great but also eliminates the need to purchase a large TV cabinet to put your TV on. There are several detailed guides online to show the steps involved in wall mounting but you can always hire someone to do it for you if you don’t feel confident.
  • Audio
Audio is just as important as visuals when it comes to creating a great home cinema setup up. You have to main choices here – you can either invest in surround sound speakers or a soundbar. A soundbar is the much cheaper option is a great investment when you don’t have the money to spend on a large set of speakers.
  • Reception
In order to get the best possible reception for your TV, it’s important that you’re able to connect it to an outdoor aerial. Nearly all properties have some sort of outdoor aerial installed so this usually isn’t a problem. You can use an indoor aerial if you need to but typically they do not provide the same picture quality as an outdoor aerial.
  • Digital services
Digital TV aerials will give you access to Freeview in HD quality. This is a huge benefit since Freeview is a completely free service and with the right box, you’ll be able to pause, rewind and record your favourite programmes, as well as having access to a range of TV and radio channels.
  • On-demand services
If you have a SMART TV then you’ll be able to access on-demand services such as BBC iPlayer and 4OD. If you have a subscription then you’ll also be able to view content on video streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. Most people consider these types of services a must nowadays so if you’re looking for a new TV then you want to be sure it comes with access to on-demand services built in.

If you don’t have a SMART TV, then you can always purchase additional equipment to give you access to on-demand services, such as Amazon Fire TV Stick.
